About Shareware

What is Shareware? Not Freeware, Shareware is usually offered as a trial version with certain features only available after the license is purchased, or as a full version, but for a trial period. As Shareware, once the trial period has passed the program will not run until a license is purchased. Shareware is often offered without support, updates, or help menus, which only become available with the purchase of a license. The words "free trial", "trial version" are indicative of shareware.

If one software product is copyrighted shareware, that mean it is not public-domain software. Users may use the nregistered version at no charge for an evaluation period (for example: 30 days only). To continue to use the software beyond the evaluation period, users must register it. Another name for Shareware is Trialware.
